The whole specimen is 19 mm long including the rostrum.

Protophites is a dwarf genus.
Small involute species. The last whorl shows two elbows (a round one followed by a pinched one) and narrow flanks. The thin ribs start above a flat periumbilical zone and they generally divide into two ribs at mid-flank. The umbilicus has a rectangular shape with rounded angles. The rostrum is preceded by a large flat constriction.

This particular specimen shows the typical rostrum, and a less commonly seen complete aperture (photo n°3). On one side there is what resembles to a small lappet (photo n°2). There is the imprint of its symmetrical on the other side of the aperture.
